“The Duke Of York has a special place, tucked right at the bottom of the Abbey steps in Whitby, and I was impressed by how thoroughly it had been refurbished. I noted the community feel fostered by the pub and live events, plus the spotless rooms and that amazing sea view, and I think it's a great pick, especially for families or anyone bringing a dog.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Guests consistently praise the Duke Of York's amazing location and harbor views, especially from rooms facing the quayside or Room 7 on the first floor. The rooms are generally considered cosy, well-decorated, and clean, offering amenities like tea/coffee facilities and toiletries; plus, the breakfast, included in the price, is often described as plentiful and varied. While some guests have occasionally found the food quality inconsistent or the building not entirely soundproofed, many highlight the new outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour and beach as a particularly lovely feature, making it easy to enjoy the bar and food area.
